Kharkiv Meets Zurich
15th International Volodymyr Krainev Competition for Young Pianists – Kantonsschule Uster and Zurich University of the Arts
5th – 10th February 2024
Due to the current situation in Ukraine, it is impossible to hold the competition in Kharkiv. The 15th edition of the competition will therefore take place in Zurich thanks to the support of the European Union of Music Competitions for Youth ( EMCY ), the Uster Cantonal School and the Swiss association “Jugend beflügelt”. The “Kharkiv Meets Zurich” International Competition for Young Pianists not only represents the impressive cooperation between different organizations, but is also an expression of respect for a long-standing tradition. The original “International Krainev Piano Competition” was founded in 1992 by the renowned pianist Volodymyr Krainev (1944–2011) in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Over three decades, this prestigious competition has attracted talented young pianists from all over the world, many of whom have gone on to impress audiences on the world's biggest stages as internationally recognized artists.
