Juniors jury

Our young jury members from Kantonsschule Uster are not only music enthusiasts but also discerning evaluators, ready to assess the performances of their fellow students with a critical yet supportive lens. Their role is crucial in understanding the nuances of the pieces presented, recognizing technical brilliance, and appreciating the emotional depth conveyed through each piano performance.

For the students, this jury is a great opportunity to gain experience on an international platform. The opportunity to analyse the subtleties of the musical performances will motivate them to continue making music themselves and to emulate their role models.

My name is Leandro Munari. I‘m a 19 year old, first year law student and finished the mathematical scientific profile of high school almost two years ago. I am honored and very excited to listen to the many aspiring musicians playing and so my expectations towards this competition are simple: providing the level of an internationally recognized competition whilst inspiring many young people to start discovering their musical abilities. To me an accomplished interpretation of music is being able to perform and present the intention of the componist and then nuancing with own interpretation and style. I‘m currently trying to do exactly that in my so many different fields of interest that are all connected to music. I‘m a dancer, piano player and I sing in a choir and think that music in so many forms can have a lot of mental, physical and social benefits, which is why I made it such an important part of my life.

I also played in the "City Strings" orchestra in Zurich for two years and played in different ensembles. The last two years I have been playing in the KUS orchestra. I'm honored to be part of the student jury and I'm looking forward to hearing the different musicians.

    Nina Nitsche

Hello, my name is Nina Nitsche and I am in my penultimate year at the Kantonschule (Gymnasium) Uster. I play the piano as a hobby, shocking isn't it?
I am a very open and honest person, which makes it easier for many people to get in touch with me. I started playing the violin at the age of 6 because of my family traditions. In 2018 I decided to start playing the piano in private lessons. When I started Gymnasium in 2021, I started lessons with Charlotte Dentan. I love playing the piano very much because I can forget about stress and time. For me, playing the piano is like magic, because you can put your whole heart into it and feel the musical sound in your whole body. A good pianist once told me a story about an old student of him and her mother. Towards the end of each of his students lessons, the mother always came and asked if she could touch the piano. The first time, the teacher was puzzled and asked why she was doing this. He soon realized that the student's mother was deaf and could feel the vibrations by touching the piano. The pupil said that her mother could hear her daughter's music from this magnificent instrument. This story touched me deeply and only strengthened my desire to make music. I expect to hear many young people deliver their hours of preparation at the competition. I also look forward to hearing part of the student themselves in the piece, how the student's heart accompanies them musically through the piece.
