Catherine Li is a 14 year old girl who started playing piano at 4 years and cello at 8 years. Before 2022, Catherine lived in NZ, and was guided by Xie Jun (lecturer at Xing Hai conservatorium), and Dr Rae de lisle (associate professor of Piano at Auckland University). She has won multiple championships in NZ such as the APMA competition for her age group every year since 2016. Catherine also participated in many performances in the NZ townhall and was once was interviewed live on Panda TV on her experiences on music at the age of 8. She even got to perform with French pianist, Richard Claydemen, and participated in many masterclasses across New Zealand with inspiring teachers such as Dr Liu Jian (Professor at Victoria University of Wellington) and Katherine Austin (Head of piano studies at the University of Waikato Conservatorium of Music). In 2020 she passed her Associateship in piano, and is now currently studying with Dr Paul Rickard-Ford, Chairman of the Piano Unit at the Sydney Conservatorium. With new competitors Catherine won a total of two 1st places, one 2nd place and two 3rd places in Sydney eisteddfods in 2022-2023. At the end of 2022 she joined the Rising Stars Program at the Conservatorium of music and received a scholarship in the program this year.
